    Refresh Your Smile

The popularity of teeth whitening has been steadily increasing in the area of cosmetic dentistry.  Whether you are looking to impress during a job interview, are attending a social event or simply want to refresh your smile, now might be the time to consider whitening your teeth.  The great news is that you can do it from the comfort of your own home.

The process is simple when using customized bleach trays made especially to fit your mouth.  Simply apply bleach and wear the tray for 1-2 hours a day.  On average it takes about 10-14 days to reach your desired shade.  To maintain color simply wear your trays once every 6 months or so.  If you have habits that stain teeth quickly (drinking coffee/tea/red wine or smoking) you may wish to bleach once every 2-3 months to hold your shade.

    A few things to know…

    • All teeth will bleach, however some teeth bleach more than others.  (Just like some people’s skin will tan more/less in the sun.)

    • About 20% of the population may become sensitive to the cold while using the bleaching material. If you are one of those people, take a break.  The sensation is transient and will subside once you stop using the bleach.

    • The bleach needs to be stored in the refrigerator and it should last for years.

    • A pencil-lead sized dot of bleach in each tooth/section of the tray is enough to cover the entire surface.
