Fourth Generation and Youngest Patient Receives Frenectomy

Recently, the youngest patient Dr. Rex has ever worked with strolled into our office.

In a preventative measure to help improve latching and negate any future problems which may arise, it was decided Joshua should have an upper and lower frenectomy.  This is a simple procedure which removes the small fold of tissue called a frenum that connects the tongue to the floor of the mouth and the upper lip to your gums just above the two front teeth.  There are times when these tissues obstruct normal function in the mouth such as in the ability to eat, speak, or with future tooth development.

At two days old the first frenectomy was completed (not pictured), followed by the second frenectomy roughly three weeks later.

Today, Joshua is doing great, growing well and everyone is happy and healthy.  Joshua is a fourth generation patient here at Favero Family Dental.  We look forward to many, many more visits with this cute little guy and his family!
