Start the School Year With a Smile

It’s time to dust off the backpacks and plan for a new school year.

Despite all of the excitement that comes with going back to school, preparing for it can seem a bit overwhelming.

Between school clothes shopping, checking items off of the classroom supplies list, and heading out for that last minute vacation, we don’t want you to forget to make your back to school dental appointment.

This checkup is the perfect time to discuss any concerns you have for your child’s oral health.  This is also a great time to talk about new habits, or if your child isn’t brushing as often or as well as they should.

We will ensure your child’s teeth, gums, and overall oral health are good, x-rays will be completed if they are due, we will check for cavities and apply sealants as needed.  (Sealants are a protective coating that is applied to the back molars which help protect the teeth from cavities.)  Don’t forget to bring your oral health assessment paperwork to be filled out if it is required by your school.

Finally, for children playing sports, it’s important they have the proper protective equipment before they hit the court or field.  Be sure to ask about mouthguards and other protective gear available.

Whether you’re ready or not, friends, activities, and books are just around the corner. Let’s start the year with a healthy smile!
